Other consultations that day also included mommy makeover, including breast implant lift, tummy tuck and liposculpture of the hips.  These patients present to Beverly Hills from Las Vegas for surgery, including breast augmentation, breast revision, breast lift, breast reduction, liposculpture, and abdominoplasty.

Dr. Linder is proud to be an advocate as well as a specialist for Kelo-cote on their recent infomercial now playing throughout the United States.  Because a disproportionately large part of Dr. Linder’s practice is body sculpting women, scarring is an inevitable concern, especially with the multitude of breast lifts and abdominoplasty surgeries. 

Having used Kelo-cote for over two years, Dr. Linder has found it to be extremely helpful when used after sutures are removed, twice a day, for at least three months.  Bio corneum is a new product with the Kelo-cote component as well as the SPF to reduce problems associated with the UV light.  Bio corneum is used for management and preventing keloids and hypertrophic scarring.  It is excellent for patients who have had surgical scarring and desires to have less redness, smoothing, flattening and less visibility of scars. 

The benefits of Bio corneum include:  it’s 100% silicone scar treatment with SPF30.  It dries within 45 minutes.  It flattens and softens scars, reducing redness and discoloration.  It also relieves itchiness and discomfort.  The SPF30 of the Bio corneum reduces sun-induced redness discoloration.  Bio corneum and Kelo-cote are excellent products for scarring.  Dr. Linder uses them every day on his patients who have postsurgical scars associated with augmentation, breast revision, breast lift and abdominoplasty procedures.

Women who have had children and/or breastfed, often what is called involutional upper pole atrophy or loss of fullness of their breasts.  Adding an implant as well as lifting the breast if there is significant skin looseness, leads to a beautiful reshaped breast.  The lower abdominal wall, when there is skin redundancy below the umbilicus but not above, may do well with a mini abdominoplasty.  A similar C-section like scar is made and extended toward the hips bilaterally and the tightening of the lower abdominal muscles from the umbilicus to the suprapubic region can be done at the same time.  The example of a mini Mommy Makeover above is showing breast enhancement surgery with a mini abdominoplasty.

The patient is now six weeks postsurgical, status post silicone gel augmentation mammoplasty procedure with high profile gel 325 cc Natrelle implants placed to the dual plane with a small incision underneath the nipple.  She also has a full abdominoplasty, and plication of the midline rectus sheath.  The rectus muscles have been plicated into the midline.  She also has undergone a core sculpting of the inner and outer thighs.  Please note her pre- and postoperative photos.  The patient is six weeks postsurgical and is doing extraordinarily well.  This is an excellent example of our usual and customary Mommy Makeover procedure combining breast enhancement, full abdominoplasty and sculpting of the inner and outer thigh areas.

COMBINATION PLASTIC SURGICAL PROCEDURES

INDICATIONS

Patients present to us for body sculpting procedures every week.  Some patients are excellent candidates for combination surgical procedures, including breast surgery as well as abdominoplasty and/or liposuction as well as lipo contouring of the thighs.  Initially, we must make sure the patient is in good health, that there are no significant systemic diseases, including high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma or anemia.  The patient having multiple procedures over the age of 40 should be cleared with a history and physical from a general internist, as well as receive a 12-lead EKG and a full set of labs.  Labs should include coagulation panel in order to check for clotting, a CBC which will include white count and hematocrit as well as a beta HCG may be performed in order to check for pregnancy and an HIV test.  If the patient is medically stable and healthy, she may undergo combination procedures.   

The example here shows a breast augmentation with a mini abdominoplasty and lipo contouring of the hips.  Surgery time is approximately two hours performed under general anesthesia with a Board Certified Anesthesiologist.  The patient is now two months postoperative.  The implants have settled nicely and the contour of her lower abdomen is excellent. 

Other factors important when considering combination procedures include length of time in surgery (in general, Dr. Linder performs surgery in less than five hours) and the amount of anticipated blood loss.  Patients who are healthy certainly can undergo combination surgical procedures with safe, predictable and excellent results.

A full mommy makeover often requires both an increase in volume of the breasts as well as removing skin, creating a breast lift. We also end up doing a tummy tuck in order to remove all the redundant skin.

It should be recalled that tummy tucks usually are saved for women who are finished having children, at least tightening of the muscles should usually wait. In any case, mommy makeover procedures will help to recreate a beautiful new form to the female body.

Mommy Makeover Procedures

Sometimes, breast implants alone are useful if they’re simply what we refer to as involutional atrophy or loss of fullness of her breasts because of breast feeding and pregnancy. However, if there is loose skin as well, then we will do a combination implant with a breast lift.

Tummy tucks are useful where there is skin that will drape from the belly button down to the suprapubic region. Liposuctioning of the hips can also be performed and very conservatively in the flanks, if necessary.

Combination procedures on helping young women are often performed in our Beverly Hills Surgery Center. The mommy makeover procedure is a wonderful surgery and as long as women continue to have children, mommies will continue to require mommy makeovers.
