The 69^th Annual Golden Globe Award presented on NBC January 15, 2012.

The best dressed celebrities included superstars dressed in very bold colors. This included greens and teals. Best dressed stars included Reese Witherspoon wearing vivid red; Emma Stone in dark burgundy; Bernice Bejo in sequence Gucci dress, feathered; Laura Dern in sparkling green, Angelina Jolie in an off-white gown with red accent; Sofia Vergara with a perfect fit and colored deep purple, voted best dressed at the 69^th Annual Golden Globe. All these dresses in a similar fashion showed perfect fit, allowing the proportionality and perfection of the female form to be displayed. These dresses showed timeless class with elegance and creativity, especially with the sparkles and feathering.

NECESSITY OF BIOPSYING SUSPICIOUS MASSES

Recently, Giuliana Rancic, host of E-Hollywood Network, announced that she has breast cancer and she will now undergo double mastectomy. As a breast specialist, I know how important it is to consider every possible mass and lesion as a possible cancer. In fact, I believe frequently even negative mammograms can lead to false readings in which a tumor could be misdiagnosed by not undergoing a biopsy. Undergoing early biopsy of a suspicious lesion can greatly reduce the spread of the cancer over time, allowing the appropriate surgical intervention, chemotherapy and radiation as necessary. Giuliana will do well with a bilateral mastectomy. Accordingly, she underwent a double lumpectomy of radiation and now she is going to move forward with a double mastectomy. Could she have had recurrence from her breast cancer? This was not disclosed. In any case, performing a total mastectomy will certainly reduce the incidence of recurrence. She will then undergo a reconstruction surgery most likely with silicone gel implant reconstruction and possibly flap muscular reconstruction as well, depending upon the amount of coverage she needs. The moral to this story is that all masses should be biopsied in order to obtain a tissue biopsy as soon as possible. It can be life saving.

The fashion this year at the 2011 Emmy Awards was definitely form fitting, tight body contouring gowns and dresses, specific to the most beautiful female forms. On the Red Carpet, it was obvious that a multitude of celebrities from daytime prime time television as well as the Motion Picture Industry decided to show off their figures to its greatness. Women had beautiful designer made dresses specifically accentuating their breasts and lower body shapes. Red, tight-fitting dresses were also hot in the 2011 Emmy Red Carpet. Examples include, red hot dresses with tight fitting body sculpting attire for Sofia Vergara, Nina Dobreu and Lea Michele, who all wore similar red hot color gowns that were form-fitting to accentuate the female form at its finest.

Beverly Hills plastic surgery peaks general award shows, including the Emmys, Golden Globe and the most prominent, The Academy Awards. Women desire to be perfectly fit for their unique and form-fitted designer gowns and therefore often undergo body sculpting surgeries at least two to three months prior to walking the Red Carpet.

FDA’s Discussion And Update On Breast Implants

On June 22, 2011, the updates included silicone breast implants are mostly safe. The most important considerations that they determine are that the silicone and saline implants are safe; however, these implants are not lifetime devices and that they must be replaced and on the average, 8 to 10 years. The studies have shown 40 to 70 percent of women who undergo breast reconstruction will under revision surgery in 8 to 10 years, while 20 to 40 percent of patients who have cosmetic elective augmentation mammoplasty will undergo secondary surgery in the next decade.�
The most common side-effects found by the FDA include scar tissue around the implant (also referred to as capsular contracture), visibility and palpability of the sides of the implant which also may be associated with scar tissue. Also problems they have found include rupture, wrinkling and a lopsided appearance, according to the report.
All of this study information was found through two U.S. Manufacturers, Allergan Pharmaceuticals and Johnson and Johnson (Mentor Corporation). They also found that 15% of the women enrolled in a thousand-patient study of Mentor were accounted for over eight years, but 42% were not accounted for. In other words, there was a significant drop-off of women who remained in the study and therefore final conclusive information was difficult to achieve. There has also been a small incidence of a cancer, referred to as anoplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) which there have been 60 cases out of 10 million women with breast implants. This is a very, very rare cancer, but women should be aware of the very low risk of this tumor.�
Finally, they indicated that most women have reported very high levels of satisfaction with body image, shape, feel and size of their implants. Women must monitor their breasts for the rest of their lives to make sure there are no problems.
